Another David Seume!
Only a few weeks ago, I was surprised and delighted to get an e-mail from my namesake in Kansas City, Missouri, USA.
I hope David will be able to find out enough about his family's origins to work out how we might be related.

The other David Seume, here. By the way, David (UK), we've got the same middle initial as well! Except mine is Arthur!
Anyway, as I've briefly relayed to David (UK), I was also very surprised to find there was another one out there. My parents and two younger sisters have lived in the Netherlands the last 8 years... I was there for 3. I'm now 23, live in Kansas City, Missouri (not Kansas, but not much of a difference, really), and just finished college. I'm a musician, but am not close to the guitarist Tristan is (I listened to the samples from his website... really enjoyed it). Nonetheless, I've been working on the first 5 tracks of a demo (or album, perhaps) and will most likely be contacting labels and the like shortly.
So that's me, for now. Unfortunately, I'm not sure (and neither is my father, Jeff) how our family came to the States. We'll have to speak with his father, Jack (who lives in Omaha, NE) to find out more about it.
Will do my best to keep in contact and gather information.

Thanks for that David (US). You may or may not know the following information that my wife Renée unearthed from the internet a little while ago. Obviously, we didn't know whether there was likely to be any link between this (your) family and ours, so she researched back as far as she could to try to find a common link. There is nothing definite but the Leipzig reference is an interesting one.
See how well this fits in with what you find when you talk to Jack.
As you state, your father Jeff is one of Jack Emil Seume's three children. Jack's older brothers were Richard Russell Seume (b 1923 and married Rita) and Richard (b 1915 and married Mary).
Their parents were Hermann Seume (b 1893 d 1940) and Lena Lenna Weigel (b 18/2/1893 d July 1977). Hermann had an older sister Alma and their parents werw Emil Seume (b 1859 in Leipzig) and Amelia Shrier (b Austria). By 1889 Emil was listed in a directory as a book keeper in Omaha, Nebraska.

is jack seume the same as attended dundee grade school in omaha and was a gifted shortstop on the Stryker Soft Water softball team at 49th & Farnam on the late 30's?????
